This was a new elementary school in North Bay, Ontario. The main focus of the design was on efficient use of resources while maximizing
indoor environmental quality. Key sustainable design features included a geothermal heat pump system (for the portion of the school that was
air-conditioned), heat recovery, occupancy sensors for lighting, low-flow plumbing fixtures and a building management system. The project
received a grant from the Ministry of Education for the geothermal system.
